I got one of those proteus versipacks the other day, and I very impressed. Rarely, and I mean rarely do you see products with the workmanship like what you see with a Maxpedition.

Socks? There were socks? Oh, am I embarrassed now! My cats enjoy playing with them, so sometimes I just toss them on the floor for them to wrestle with.

It's a decent bag, but it just doesn't make very efficient use of its size. The lack of padding also makes it unsuitable for the more delicate items you might want to carry around. It is undoubtedly a manly bag...but as an everyday gadget bag, I just don't know. Everyone has a different take on what their ideal gadget bag is...actually, after 9 months, the Victorinox is still my favorite, which is something of a record for me.

Getting an OQO 02 today, will do a review of that too!

Honestly, I never heard of Maxpedition until a few days ago when I "gifted" a friend a Fatboy S-Type Versipack that he's raving about. The Proteus looks fun too but I think I have my eyes set on the Urban Tool hipHolster (which I'm sure Mike would like too!). I hope you can do a review of the hipHolster soon Julie!

And oh, I noticed the socks first before the cat! ;)

This is a really nice option for guys like me who want a carry bag but want it to be so overpoweringly military that no one can make fun of it as a man purse.

But hey that's my problem. ;)

It looks like many of their products fit the bill actually.

Good stuff! I'd love this in black.
