Macros and Cron Jobs

Earlier this week for my day job (Cummins Inc.), I had to give a presentation of an application called WinBatch to a group of people from China. WinBatch is a simple macro language for Windows computers. It allows you to write automated programs that mimic a user sitting at a keyboard using any application. At Cummins, I have jobs set up in several locations here in the US and then a couple elsewhere in the world. These jobs record performance speed for the CAD software (ProE) that I help support.

I’m sure a lot of you are saying “Hey Julie, that’s cool, but what the heck does all of this have to do with gadgets?”. Well, I’m glad you asked that ;o) See, while I was waiting for the people to show up to my presentation, I started thinking that it would be pretty cool if there was an application like WinBatch for Palm or Windows Mobile devices. One that would allow you to set up macros to run at various times to do various tasks. I surfed around a bit trying to find such an app for Windows Mobile, but didn’t find anything in the brief time I tried. Has anyone ever done something like this with their PDAs? If so, please share your ideas.
