Hi Julie,
iPod users can control volume with the iJet if they are using the iPod
“audio out” (audio jack). You are correct that through some docks and
iPod-designed speaker systems the iJet remote will not control the volume.

The ABT iJet Two-Way remote, soon to be released, has an attenuator built
into the transceiver that allows for full functionality including volume

Yes, it send the signal to your iPod to adjust the volume. You can see the volume change on the iPod's screen.
