I have gone down the path of buying an XBMC solution because I was tired of waiting for a good h.264 capable unit [for a reasonable price].

The XBOX has a huge software community [100k users] and plays almost anything you can throw at it [not good with HD, but I don't care]. The whole thing cost me about $170 for everything I need to play IPTV content, which appears to be mostly supported in the current XBMC 1.1.0.
