Nice review - I bought a Maxpedition Vulture 2 backpack and took it to Africa were I work in tough conditions in the forests. Both of the main zips packed up on me in the field after a few months of use. When I finally got back to "civilisation" I wrote to Maxpedition asking them about repairs and was sent a link to a site with a DIY solution involving a kitchen knife and needle and thread or a suggestion to contact my local tailor. I employ close to 200 people and equip them with the best kit out - I wont be buying any thing else from maxpedition!

I just got this bag and it has a lot of possibilities. It can fit a lot of my stuff, for instance, my Nikon D50 fits in the main compartment just fine with the 50mm lens attached. Sadly, neither my phone or MP3 player will fit in the phone or flashlight pocket. I'll need to figure out what I'll use those for.

Fantastic review, Judie! I have another Maxpedition bag -- the Thermite -- which is a bit smaller and lacks some of the features on the Fatboy. I'd been thinking about upgrading but I wasn't sure what the differences would really be. I got a near-hands-on experience reading this very thorough article, and I'm confident I can go for the Fatboy and be happy with it.

Though I'd have to go for embroidered knotwork myself. Or maybe textured digital cameo...

I saw this handbag that was being carried by our instructor for concealed carry and he was male. The men were all razzing him about carrying a man purse. But the whole time I am setting there thinking I like that for me (female) but I have to figure out like you how to feminize this bag. I have a few ideas myself. email back and I will let you know how it turned out. (Oh after checking some of the leather bags I could have bought a COUCH for some of their prices.)
