seatech1:

I've only had a problem with one cigarette lighter accessory. It was the iMount from Seidio:
<a href="http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/seidio-ipod-car-review.html">http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/seidio-ipod-car-review.html</a>

Everytime I'd plug it in, it would blow the fuse in my truck which would kill the horn, dome light, and radio memories. Turned out to be a problem with my cigarette lighter though and not the iMount. I ended up going to a junk yard and getting a new lighter assembly. Since I've replaced it, I've not had the problem again <fingers crossed>.

I bought one of these (prior to reading your review) and had some probs with it. It played briefly, then the fuse inside it blew. I've tried it in several vehicles and even with a regulated 12 volt power supply, and the fuses still blow every time. (just unscrew the end cap that plugs into the lighter socket to get to the fuse. But be careful, because the little button that makes contact with the 12 volt contact in the ligher socket will come off in your hand. It's pretty small and easy to lose.) I was also at my mechanic's after this happened, and he put a meter on the cigarette lighter socket and found no problems, shorts, or irregularities. He checked it at a few different current levels, and it was fine.
So I guess I got a bad one. Am working out a swap for a replacement with the vendor now. I really liked it for the few seconds that it worked. The sound was surprisingly good. I'm not ready to give up on it yet.
