Julie’s Gear Diary – 2003-06-11

I have set a goal to make my home smarter. By that, I'm talking about X10 and other ways of automation and connectivity. My first project is for security. I'd love to be able to install a wireless camera that points to my front door and alerts me when someone is there, or snaps a picture and saves it to a PC whenever someone is there. When someone presses the doorbell and I'm sitting in front of my TV in the basement, I would like to be able to use my TV remote to see who is at the door through my television. How many of you already have something like this setup? Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to get started with this project?
