As a career-student not living back home in the US, this tax thing is something I’m not missing.

However, I’m dreading the backlash of getting a job here. I’m gonna get double taxed! (by the US and Finland)

So I figure we have a couple of options…if it were to come to that, either I give up my citizenship.. which isn’t the most attractive option, or we move back home …which has its bad points too.

Any ex-pats have any experience with this? It’s not exactly fair to get double-taxed. :rolleyes:

I have itemized in the past and it can be a HUGE gain for you if you actually spend more than the standard deduction. I didn’t itemize this year; but we still did very well.

I got a massive (in my opinion) refund – itemizing deductions is the only way to go!!

No, you’re not alone. I did mine yesterday and we got quite a refund!

I’ve been using Turbo Tax for years and I swear by it. Taxes only took me about 4 hours to do…
